HELP FOR HAITI: Savannah Responds activated
Savannah Responds is a program founded by Chatham County Commission Chairman Pete Liakakis in 1961 to provide aid to the Savannah area and other locations hit by floods, hurricanes and other natural disasters. Through the years food, goods, equipment and volunteers have been sent to locations as far away as Italy and as near as Charleston, SC and South Florida.
Savannah Responds has designated a drop off location in a vacant lot at the NE corner of Mall Boulevard and Abercorn Street. Donated goods will be accepted at this location from Saturday, January 16th – Sunday, January 31st, 2010 between the hours of 8AM – 8PM. Volunteers are needed to help man the drop off point. If you’re interested in volunteering you may go directly to this location to sign up or call (912) 233-2876 for more information.
